Visualization is one of the most powerful mind exercises we can do. We all set goals for ourselves in different areas of our life. However, making those goals tangible can make the idea of reaching them that much more of a reality. A vision board is a display of pictures, words, and images that embody goals that the creator would like to achieve. These goals can be in any category of your life: fitness, career, money, relationships, etc.
This past Saturday, December 3, 2016 I hosted my very first Vision Board Party! It took much planning and thought but watching it come together was truly an amazing feeling. I'd been interested in hosting an event for some time and what better way to get started than hosting something that brings women together to discuss their goals and encourage one another. It was also a great opportunity to network with other like-minded women. I'm so thankful to those that came out and supported this huge step for me. The ladies that attended started by watching a video clip of Steve Harvey talking about his experience with vision boards and how powerful having one is. We then got started grabbing magazines, pictures, and pre-printed material to make our vision boards while sipping some good ol' wine :). Some of the ladies brought their own vision boards and used the opportunity to update them. Before the end of the night, we all grabbed one or two of the helium-filled balloons in the room and wrote a goal that was the most important to us right now. We then went outside and said a prayer over that goal and released our balloons into the air. This part was most memorable to me because it was like sending our dreams out into the universe to be fulfilled by God.
Making the vision board isn't the last step though; it is important to place it in places where you can constantly be reminded of your goals. Steve Harvey told Oprah Winfrey and her audience on SuperSoul Sunday that he has a picture of his vision board on the background of his phone, laptop, and tablet. It is also important to update your vision board as you accomplish some of your short-term goals. Continue adding things because your work is never done. Have you created a vision board? Have you attended a vision board party? Do you have goals that you've been thinking about for a while and haven't gotten started yet?
